Iris opened in September 2005. The creation of Sarah Claassen and Annie Pollet, friends and local mums who both live in Queens Park. The pair felt that Iris would offer the area that they love the one thing that it was missing - a gorgeous place to shop in.

Annie who has had an extensive fashion background working for the likes of Calvin Klein, Nicole Farhi and Earl Jean had the necessary contacts needed for the venture and Sarah put the business plan together. The instant success of their venture proved that they were exactly right in their concept of what the area needed. As well as stocking top labels such as Cacharel, Day Birger et Michelsen, By Malene Birger, Patrizia Pepe, Velvet, True Religion, and many many more both Annie and Sarah are keen to support local business.

They say 'Queens Park is a real community spirited area and we have tried to reflect this in our shop'... it is nice to have the mix of small companies with the big designers.² Local girls are behind the 'All Small' knitwear range and the Lucky slippers which both sell really well at Iris.

The girls have this year gone on to open their second branch of Iris South of the river which has been great news for the women of Northcote road.
