What we're looking forward to post-lockdown

As the first date for beginning to move out of lockdown edges closer, we’ve started to get excited about the future and what summer could bring. We had a catch up with one of our founders and director Sarah Claassen, about her plans for April the 12th and all her recommendations for what to wear and where to go.

What are your plans for the first night out of lockdown?
As holidays will be permitted in the UK from the 12th of April, I'm hoping to escape to Wales and visit my favourite wooden cabin. Situated in the woods, here you can cook over an open fire outside on the deck, while taking in beautiful views over the Vrynwy valley. Over the first lockdown I was lucky enough to spend 3 months in Wales, and I have fallen in love with its stunning mountains, countryside, waterfalls and beaches. What it has made me realise is that one doesn't have to travel across the world to find beautiful places to escape to, especially after the wonderful weather we had in the UK last year.

What is one item of food/drink that you have craved but haven't been able to get with restaurants shut, that you can't wait to order for the first time?

I can't wait to get a pint of Guinness and a plate of oysters outside The Cow pub in Notting Hill. They serve huge portions on raised platters - great for sharing!

Have you got any London recommendations for heading out?

My favourite Greek restaurant Tsiakkos in Marylands Road! It has a garden room so we’ll be able to visit there from the 12th April, much to my delight. It’s a family run restaurant which is friendly and very atmospheric! They have the best slow cooked Lamb Kleftiko served with rice and Greek salad.

What will be your first post-lockdown outfit?

Isabel Marant Etoile Ilindae jacket with a white By Iris Ilena Camisole top, Frame Le High Straight jeans and my trusted old By Iris Felda boots.

What are you most looking forward to, having a garden BBQ with friends, or heading out to a restaurant?

As the 6 person restriction will still apply when restaurants and pubs open inside on the 17th May, I think socialising in the garden with friends will be a lot more relaxed. We have a firepit and great outdoor seating so gatherings in my garden are always fun!

What have you missed the most?

Festivals and live music! We missed out on so many incredible music events last year including Notting Hill carnival! I'm hoping to go to some smaller, more intimate events this summer and I can't wait to rummage through my festival wardrobe to dig out my sequin jackets, gold trousers and top hat!

What are you most excited about with stores re-opening again?

Iris re-opening after nearly 4 months of closure! I’m also excited about browsing around Portobello market and the vintage shops near me.

What have you found yourself living in over the most recent weeks/months?

My super comfortable American Vintage Sonona long sleeved tee, with Iris Cashmere bottoms when I’m home and my Iris Ulla roll neck with my black Stand Camille coat to keep me warm when I’m out walking.

Are there any upcoming birthdays/holidays in particular that you can’t wait to celebrate properly?

Yes! My sister Amy’s 40th & my dad’ Jeffs 70th birthday from last year. As my parents live in a beautiful part of Devon, we plan to meet there for a family reunion and to catch up on missed celebrations!

Where do you plan to holiday this summer?

To avoid any stress due to Covid restrictions this summer we have planned to holiday in the UK. I’m digging out my bell tent for a week around camp fires with friends at the Mount Pleasant Eco Park, Cornwall. From there we’re heading to a cute sea view cabin just a 10 min walk down to the beach in Crackington Haven, which is near my sisters home in Bude. I have also rented an old farm house in Bruton, Somerset for 2 weeks where friends and family can come and go.

If we're able to travel, where are you most excited to visit abroad?

Patmos! My favourite Greek island in the Aegean sea. We visit here every summer with family and friends and it was greatly missed last summer. When the summer rush is over and if travel proves easier in September, then I hope to sneak off somewhere to get a dose of the Mediterranean sea!
